Ronaldinho’s Surprising Prison Experience: “They Just Wanted to See Me Play”

Football legend Ronaldinho, known for his joyful playing style and infectious smile, found himself behind bars in Paraguay in 2020 after entering the country with a forged passport. What could have been a terrifying experience turned into something completely unexpected.

Speaking about his time in jail, Ronaldinho admitted he feared the worst:

“I thought they were going to beat me up and do all the terrible stuff they usually do in jail. But instead, they called the guards to bring football so I could do some tricks and entertain them.”

To his surprise, the inmates treated him with admiration, not aggression. The next morning, Ronaldinho was invited to a 5-a-side match—with fellow inmates, guards, and even officials coming out to watch, cameras rolling as the prison turned into a mini football festival.
