Tragedy in Laredo: 7-Year-Old Dies in Rollover Crash on His Birthday

On May 21, 2025, a heartbreaking accident occurred in Laredo, Texas, when a Chevy Tahoe lost control on U.S. 83 near Market Street. The SUV, driven by a 27-year-old woman, collided with a cement wall and rolled over multiple times. Inside were the driver and her three children, aged 3, 7, and 9.

Tragically, the 7-year-old boy, identified as Arturo DeHoyos III, was ejected from the vehicle and later died at the hospital. Notably, the accident occurred on Arturo's birthday. Authorities confirmed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The other occupants sustained injuries but are reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators are reviewing nearby surveillance footage to determine the exact cause of the accident. This incident underscores the critical importance of seatbelt use, especially for children, to prevent such devastating outcomes.
